The Rheinland Pokal was a support race to the German Grand Prix and ran over seven laps. Carel again entered the class for production sportscars up to 1500cc. Overall Stirling Moss' Maserati was beaten by the factory Porsche of Hans Herrmann. Carel became fourth in class, just behind Josef Jeser but in front of Seppi Liebl, both in similar cars.
