The Solitude Rennen, practically in Porsche's own backyard, was an almost national affair with only cars of German manufacture taking the start – a lot of Porsches, a couple of East German AWEs and a pair of Borgwards. It was therefore no surprise that the factory Porsches battled for the win. Hans Herrmann beat Wolfgang von Trips.
